SeveredConnections.com is a way for me to communicate with my grandkids.
In June 2020, events took place that caused a chasm, a fracture in my family that led to me being forbidden from seeing my 2 granddaughters: Cedar and Ashlyn. For a while, we were also not able to see our grandson – John, but that changed 2 weeks ago.
For more than 6 years prior to this, these 3 wonderful kids would live in my and my wife’s house during the times in the week that their mother had custody following her divorce. We did many things together while they lived here and we miss them very much.
We’re unable to see our granddaughters unless their mom, my daughter, has them – and even then it’s a challenge for us to see them. This is very frustrating for us and I’m very concerned that somehow Cedar and Ashlyn will come to think that I don’t love them anymore because it appears that I don’t try to communicate with them.
I’m so glad that we’re able to see and have John over at our house!
This blog – SeveredConnections.com – is my method of documenting communications in such a way that Cedar and Ashlyn can view at some point to see how much I think of them and for John to review as he grows for memories of things we’ve done.
My hope is that by penning these communications, my granddaughters will always realize that I never stopped loving them and that I miss them painfully while my contact with them has been hampered.
